Building the Legacy Pavilion

In 2015, the Foundation awarded one of our first large scale grants to the Friends of Schafer and Lake Sylvia State Parks for their Legacy Pavilion Project.

The all-season pavilion within the boundaries of Lake Sylvia State Park, is a wonderful effort pulled together by an all volunteer organization working jointly with Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission.

The Pavilion is a community resource that can be utilized for youth as an entry point to the natural world, whether it be an off site natural science classroom for our schools, a gathering place for scouting events, a summer youth recreation program locale, or a fishing derby and instructional center. For the community and county, the Pavilion provides a welcoming setting for family gatherings, reunions, private weddings, day retreats, business seminars, and public events.
