Remembering Rudy: A Lifelong Harborite with a Heart of Gold

One of our very favorite visitors and a friend to the Foundation, Rudy Spanich died this month at the age 101. Rudy was a longtime Hoquiam resident, and a true servant to his community.

One of our very favorite visitors and a friend to the Foundation, Rudy Spanich died this month at the age 101. Rudy was a longtime Hoquiam resident, and a true servant to his community.

A dedicated Lions Club member for decades and longtime employee of Lamb Grays Harbor, Rudy was the kind of guy that everyone knew and looked forward to running into while we were out and about. His warm smile and charm just drew people to him and we will sure miss his presence in Grays Harbor, but he leaves a lasting legacy of service and philanthropy.

Rudy was especially passionate about the scholarship fund he set up with the Foundation in honor of his son David who tragically passed away a few months short of graduating from the University of Washington over 50 years ago.

Remembered as a family man and true community champion, we will never forget you and the way that you made a difference in the lives of so many Hoquiam students in our community through the David Spanich Memorial Scholarship.
