The Grays Harbor Community Foundation has announced the hiring of Eric Potts as their new Executive Director. He is a 1998 graduate of Aberdeen High School and a 2002 graduate of Washington State University. Eric has spent the last seven years at Grays Harbor College, most recently as the Director of Admissions and Outreach. Eric oversaw numerous college programs and high school outreach programs such as World Class Scholars, Tech Prep, as well as a supporting role in the college’s scholarship process.
Tom Quigg, Chairperson of the Foundation, commented, “We’re pleased Eric has agreed to become the Executive Director for the Foundation. Applications were received from across the country, with many outstanding ones from right here in Grays Harbor. The selection committee gave each candidate thorough consideration, and ultimately determined that Eric was the best match for the position.”
The Foundation is on solid financial footing and Eric will help establish guidelines for the distribution of funds for the betterment of our community. He will educate the community about the ability to establish funds in specific areas of interest, and partner with local organizations to identify programs that will have a positive impact.
The Grays Harbor Community Foundation was established in 1994 in order to enable donors to benefit Grays Harbor. It was a slow start, with not much money to work with, but the people involved realized that it is only through intervention on a personal level that we can help each other. Our community has celebrated in the good times and endured in the harsh times, but during all of those ups and downs, people have proven the generosity of the Harbor.
