Marian J. Weatherwax The Grays Harbor Community Foundation received $5.3 M from
the estate of Marian Weatherwax. The estate is to establish endowments for the
permanent support of four community non-profit organizations and the The The Aberdeen Timberland Public Library will be able to use
their share of the earnings for improvements to the collection of the Aberdeen
Public Library; for the purchase of books, tapes, electronic media or other
materials appropriate for juveniles to develop an interest in use of library
materials, books, and the love of learning; to take steps necessary to keep the
library open on Sunday afternoon’s; and for such other needs as will be
determined by the Board of Trustees of the Library and the Friends of the
Library. The Grays Harbor College Foundation endowment is for
scholarships to Grays Harbor College for worthy men and women who demonstrate
consistent effort and show promise for future achievement in any field or
vocation so that they may become employable and self-supporting, to fund the
needs of the performing arts center, and to fund the needs of the library at
Grays Harbor College. The YMCA of Grays Harbor earnings will fund YMCA
memberships, activity fees, and Aberdeen School District #5 will receive support to provide
up-to-date textbooks, for cultural enrichment programs, to fund or obtain
teachers who genuinely love and are accomplished in the
subjects which they teach and are able to effectively communicate and
inspire their students, and to restore the Weatherwax Prize that will provide
meaningful scholarships to the valedictorian and salutatorian of each graduating
class at J.M. Weatherwax High School. Follow a link to learn more:
