WELCOME

Established by local residents in 1994, the Grays Harbor Community Foundation works with donors from all walks of life who want to create unique funds to improve local communities.  By helping donors help their communities through charitable giving, we are working to build a community endowment for the long-term benefit of Grays Harbor County.

IT'S SCHOLARSHIP TIME

In 2008 the Grays Harbor Community Foundation awarded 114 College Scholarships. It is time to hit the Scholarships button (on the left) and fill out your application. Please carefully read the instructions and provide all the requested information by April 1st to be considered for a 2009 - 2010 school year scholarship.

IN A NUTSHELL

The work of our community foundation is perhaps best told in the stories of those whose lives we've touched:

  • Read why lifelong Aberdeen residents Don and Vera McCaw decided to set up a permanent endowment fund to support their favorite local charities, year after year. 

  • Read why Lyle Lancaster of Central Park chose to leave his estate to the Grays Harbor Community Foundation to provide scholarships for local students. 

  • Read how we helped Catholic Community Services make a smooth transition with their Feed the Hungry program. 

  • Read how Harbor After School provides a safe place for local middle school students to learn and play after school is over, thanks in part to our support. 

These stories are but a few of the many we hope to tell in the years ahead.  By sharing them, we hope to inspire further acts of giving which, combined, will significantly help to improve our community. 

Our sole aim, now and always, is to improve the quality of life in this beautiful place we call home -- Grays Harbor.

Jim Daly became the Executive Director of the Grays Harbor Community Foundation on August 10, 2004.

Grays Harbor Community Foundation is a tax-exempt public charity dedicated to serving the broad needs of Grays Harbor County in Washington State.  We are a member of the Council on Foundations; we have committed ourselves to the National Standards for U.S. community foundations; we are audited annually; and we consider ourselves accountable to the public upon whom we depend for support.

We thank Darrell Westmoreland, Kevin Hong, Ellen Pickell, and the Polson Museum for providing the photographs used in this website.  We'd like to showcase the work of more local photographers and artists on this website and in our publications.  Please contact us if you'd like to help.
