The work that makes and keeps a community healthy -- in Grays Harbor as in every community in the world -- is never just the work of one organization alone.

What makes a community strong is never just its arts and cultural institutions, never just its schools, never just its hospitals, food banks, churches, or service groups.

What makes a community strong is the work of all these organizations and all the people who work and serve through them -- together

To be healthy, a community must be whole.

A SMARTER WAY TO GIVE

The Fund for Grays Harbor is a tool that gives local donors an easy and efficient way to give back to their community as a whole.

  • As a permanent endowment fund, The Fund for Grays Harbor is designed to support the most urgent local needs and the most promising local giving opportunities, forever.

  • As an unrestricted fund, The Fund for Grays Harbor aims to support the broad needs of our community.  We welcome grant requests from all local nonprofit organizations serving Grays Harbor.

  • As a community fund, The Fund for Grays Harbor is built by not one but many donors.  It is designed to grow over time through the shared generosity of many donors over many years, one gift at a time.

  • As a grant making fund, The Fund for Grays Harbor is used to support our community grants program.  This program represents the heart of our community foundation's mission.

For the donor who wishes to make a gift of lasting benefit to local communities, we believe The Fund for Grays Harbor offers a smarter way to give.  The Fund for Grays Harbor is smarter first because gifts to the Fund are used for the long-term support of the local community, and second because the Fund is designed with the flexibility to find relevance in a changing world.

Indeed, no one knows what the needs of our community will be in 20, 50 or 100 years.  Yet we do know that local communities will inevitably change and face new challenges.  If local leaders are to provide local solutions to local problems, they will need the local resources to do so.

It is our aim to build just such a source of charitable capital for the long term health and stability of the communities of Grays Harbor County.  We call it The Fund for Grays Harbor.
