Cassie Lentz selected as Program Officer for Grays Harbor Community Foundation
Since high school graduation, Cassie has worked three years for the Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Department as a seasonal recreation and maintenance worker. She interned for the Bank of the Pacific to develop a marketing plan to promote the launch of BOP’s Mobile Banking Service. She has volunteered with the United Way of Grays Harbor as a member of the Admissions and Distribution Committee and has helped the “Campaign Kick-off Golf Tournament/Concert” and the “Race the United Way.” At Western, Cassie was Vice-President of Operations for the Student Marketing Association, helped the Campus Sustainable Food Co-Op explore the demand for organic foods and helped administer a Facebook site for the Marketing Association and the Student Co-Op. She served an internship with the WWU Department of Health and Safety where she led the Fire Safety Grant Program and helped raise fire safety awareness at the campus. She spent the summer of 2009 interning at the Hunter Wetlands Centre in Newcastle, Australia, where she gained valuable experience in the world of non-profits, writing grant applications for support from private, government, and international organizations. Her parents are also Grays Harbor residents; Tom is a self-employed contractor and Cathy is a receptionist at Aiken and Sanders Inc. Cassie has a brother Tommy, 28, who works for her father, and a sister Hollie, 19, who is interning as a chef at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California. Cassie enjoys running, cooking, reading, and traveling and is extremely excited about this wonderful opportunity to work and grow in her local community. She can often be found chatting over coffee or lunch with friends or networking at many local business forums. Her duties as Program Officer for the Grays Harbor Community Foundation include managing the grants and scholarships programs, advocating and researching for grant applicants, and working on the marketing efforts of the Foundation. Cassie has also put together several events hosted by the Community Foundation and is looking to expand those events to Scholarship and Grant Writing workshops in the future. Cassie may be contacted by phone at 532-1600 or by e-mail at cassie@gh-cf.org.
